    Not sure, but think fitting downlights in bathrooms is under the Part P regulations and will need to be signed off by a competent person.

    Also remember to get the right type of fittings for use in wet areas.

    Personally I use soil pipe cut allong the length to give an aircraft shelter type of profile, cutting a channel in this to allow for the cable. This allows air to circulate around the light from the sides whilst letting you insulate over the top. If the ceiling is fireproofed (eg. ceilings upgraded bellow attick conversion) the fire hoods should be employed to maintain the fire seal.
