    You need to discuss your HB and stuff with Shelter. Although "technically" councils cannot grant HB etc, they can under special circumstances and Shelter will be able to help with that.


    After BR, you WILL still own the property and you will still be liable for the mortgage and bills against it. But, once the property is repossessed then you will not own it or be liable for it. But speak to Shelter about the HB.

    Have spoken to shelter & the council....we need a repossession letter or something in writing that states that we no longer own the property...Once we are BR & hand the keys back we will have this....

    Proof of BR & a letter confirming that we no longer have access will suffice......thats what the council advised...the council will not give us any help towards the rent until these things are in order.

    I am asking what figure to put on the SOA for the council tax....should I put the full amount even though we are not paying it at the moment...

    Yep - put the full amount on the SOA. At the end of the day, you should be paying it.
