Post Office CC applications, how was yours?

in Credit cards
Hello,
Just thought about creating a specific thread on this one to build up a picture of people they accept/decline.
I applied for a Post Office CC back in January with the intention of stoozing from my MBNA (£1800), just wanted another emergency card really as well as being savvy. Now on the form I listed myself as self-employed as I contract and jobs may run for hours/days/weeks/months and with several overlapping, ie. I don't have an 'employer'. They returned the forms stating, "Please fill in employer details," when I'd already listed myself as SE and with company name etc. so God knows what they were on about.
In the end I didn't even get to the decline/accepted stage as I felt that if they didn't understand that when you're self employed you don't have an employer then I was going to be declined anyway. I am my employer, how else would it work? This seems to be a difficult one to get across to clerks in financial institutions, "Look, my income is about £50k and you're viewing me an unemployed because I can't give you an employer to write to. I am the company, you can write to me. If I don't generate the business then nothing happens."
They had not performed a CRF check so I left it at that. It's all 0's btw and with only about 2-3 searches on it, so wanted to leave it that way.
Interested in your experiences??
xx

I have just received their letter after my application:
"All applications have to go through our normal credit scoring process and our decision is based on this analysis. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer you a Credit Card(s) at present."
I am both self employed and employed. On the form I entered £70,000 as my income. This tax year my employed income will be £21,840 and my self employed income will be £54,000. I am employed by the Government. I have three other credit cards with a combined limit of £7,750. I also have a £93,500 mortgage. I have never been accepted for a credit card first time. I am not English, but have been living and working in England for nearly 6 years.
Stoozing has been a struggle from day 1 and I don't understand why.
But I am not giving up, back to the old appeal letter! I want that Post Office cc. Money in longest works hardest0 -
I finally received my PO CC after a rigmarole with the appeal system.
I appealed the refusal because it would have jeopardised any future CC applications. They always ask on AF have you ever been refused a credit card etc.
The gist is they refused me on my credit report - I got a copy and there was nothing wrong or I couldnt see anything. So on my appeal I had to send notarised copies of statements etc.
On saying yes to me the joke was that they gave me a credit limit of £750. And all for the sake of having a 6 month 0% balance transfer with no transfer fee.
So what did I learn from the experience - don't take no for an answer.Veteran Bargain Hunter -

Gave me a rejection too - same wording as outlined above.
Strongly of the belief they have a really odd selection criteria and are fishing for specific types of customers only....seems a high majority are being rejected as witnessed across a varierty of forums.
Wont be applying for them again in the future as a result if this is anything to go by...Beware Lego Men with Deep pockets...! :cool:0
