My wireless laptop has decided it doesn't want to connect to the internet anymore. In trying to investigate why this might be, I've tried to check the desktop which controls the access to our broadband connection. I've tried going to http://192.168.0.1 where I should be able to log in using admin as a user name and password as the password. However, it is not accepting password as the password!
Is it possible that I may have changed this or is that the standard default which is not changeable? I've tried several other passwords but without success, so am now completely stumped.
Any ideas how to get round this?

Have the same kit, admin and password are the defaults and work at this end so somehow you have changed the password, you cannot change the user name . If you lose the password, you will need to reset the router configuration (and lose all other configuration settings as well) to be able to login to the router.
Taken from netgear website Write down configuration information such as IP addresses, security keys, opened ports and services, etc., that you modified. (The default username is admin and the password is either password or 1234 on older routers. Try these before resetting the router.)
1 Press the reset button on the back until the test light blinks. This takes about 10 seconds. (To avoid accidental resets, the small button is recessed. Use a pen or paperclip to access it.)
2 Release the button.
3 Wait for the router to reboot.
4 Log in with the default password.0 -

Many, many thanks for this. Have rebooted the router from scratch and this has also sorted out the problem with the wireless laptop.Make £2025 in 2025

Sometimes a reboot is the only way. There are occasions when for some reason Firefox wont browse for me even though it worked a few minutes previously. I often find a reboot does the job0
