Mexico holiday booked for June - advice :(

So I booked my first holiday for over 2years last month to Mexico...planning on flying with Air France into Cancun (through Mexico City) and using it as a base to travel round, see the ruins, kayak and dive.
Although I am not due to depart till June 24th, with the revised travel advice from FCO I have been looking around at my options which look to be, well none
Despite the tour operators like Thomas Cook offering refunds, the bigger airlines...including Air France...are still flying there and not likely to offer refunds unless it becomes really bad.
My travel insurance also wont pay out unless it becomes an official pandemic and the FCO bans travel to Mexico.
Booked through a credit card and not sure if this is an option but any advice?

Hi Kyleweb,
In all honesty, I would just sit still for a few days. Airlines and Tour Operators are still formulating their policies to those due to travel, and will absolutely prioritise those already overseas, or due to depart very soon.
In all honesty you will probably be fobbed off, told to call back another time as you are not priority, or even given incorrect information. Keep an eye on things and hold out a couple of days.0 -
All you can do is wait & see as whilst the current FCO advice is not to travel to Mexico, it may not be the same in June.
If you cancel now you will lose everything you've paid.0 -

Thanks all...as I thought then, just hold out.
Obviously wouldnt cancel without a refund so will just hold out and see what happens.
Cheers all!0 -
DO NOT cancel. Await further guidance.0

June 24th a bit away. Hold tight . Hopefully it will all be over by then.
Think of some alternatives just in case. If the worst happens you would know where you wanted to go instead0 -
Have to echo what others have said. Something like this really can change day by day. Your holiday is still a good few weeks off. If you do anything now you really will be rushing into it.
Although its hard, just try and sit tight. Think of other destinations you wouldnt mind going to if you have to change or cancel.
A lot can happen between now and then, you have virtually 2 months.
Best of luck

I would get travel insurance, just to cover yourself...0
