Not for normal use, you can have all wireless clients on a wireless router.
The only time you may have to plug into the router via Ethernet is when you initially set it up.0 -
Thanks for all your hel guys. One last question:-
If I just wanted to run my laptop via an ethernet cable do I need a router for this or will it just connect to a modem (one which is free with the ISP) ?
Thanks0 -
Sorry that should be HELP !!!!!0

If you have a router, you can plug the Laptop into the router via Ethernet.
Although you can, you wouldn't plug the ADSL Modem straight into the Laptop if you had a router as well.
You can get routers and modems combined in one device. If the modem provided by your ISP is a cheapy USB only one, then you'll need to get a router/modem combined rather than just a router.
