Not sure i'm in the right forum but I'll ask anyway.
I've managed to accumulate a lot of loose change...
What's the easiest/cheapest way to get it converted into notes?
Thanks.

The cheapest is to ask your bank for moneybags, sort them out, bag them up and take them in. Note however most banks have a limit on how many you can deposit in any one visit.
Easiest, but not cheapest, is to use a coin machine to do it for you. We have them in the entrance at our local Asda. They take a cut though.0 -
I think that the machine produces vouchers to spend in the shop although one may get banknotes in change.0

If you have an account with HSBC they have coin machines that are commission free in some fo the lobbys. It goes straight into you account I believe.
Otherwise the supermarket ones charge 7%.0 -
My local Morrison's has facility to shovel change in at the scan your own shopping checkouts, pay for your shopping with no cut taken outGardener’s pest is chef’s escargot0

If you pay in before 3:30 it goes in at the end of the day - Also applies if you have a First Direct account0 -

I was looking at the machine in Tescos..
It takes an outrageous 7.9% commission if you request it to change coins into bank notes.
The instructions on the machine are not at all clear, but I think if you request it to change coins into Tesco shopping vouchers, there is no commission..
Does anyone know for sure whether that is correct?0 -

For anyone in London, Metrobank has a service for customers and non-customers in its branches to "convert coins into cash for free" using one of their Magic Money Machines. Not much of a trick as the coins were cash to start with!0

How much have you accumulated? You could just try spending it! I once "inherited" about £200 mainly in 1p 2p 5p 10p with the odd 20p and 50p in there. I set myself a target of passing it on where possible. I got through it in about six months. The only hassle I had was at the Tyne Tunnel. I was a good boy. Only included 20p in coppers in the toll fee but the collector was quite irate about it.

Count it out and bag it up into bank plastic money bags.
Take them into the bank branch at about 1:05 p.m., causing maximum annoyance to all the customers.0
