I think I've said this before, but I'd strongly advise against and of this "key word research" or similar nonsense. The absolute best way to optimize your site for adsense is to write about something you enjoy an are enthusiastic about. Forget the SEO and keyword nonsense, you may as well start doing witchcraft.
  • I couldn't agree more, I came to write my blogs from what I am enthusiastic about and what I wanted to read about. But using keywords can help you see what words other like minded enthusiasts are searching for and can help guide them towards your blog so it works both ways.

A lot of posters on this thread have said they've struggled to think of ideas for what they could blog about. Well i've just come across this, i promise you it's not mine, and nothing to do with me. If it was i don't think i'd admit to it. But it just goes to show that some people will blog about nothing.
After reading a couple of this guys posts i've come to the conclusion that my life isn't as sad as i thought. In fact it's quite exciting compared to him.

Thats a very clever blog :D It looks like they don't post any more, but they didn't do it for income anyway.

I've just started a blog as a sort of author site, as I've got a 29,000 word book to put onto kindle. No adverts on the blog yet, but I'm going to build it for the long term.

Just bumping this thread up as I've read through some of it and it's a great thread :) Any of the original posters still here? Would be interested on reading more about new and old blogs and how they're doing. I have a horsey blog myself (link in profile), no ads or anything, just do it because I enjoy it.

Keep any paperwork and consider how much it cost you to blog, length of time, internet, wifi and if your income from it takes you over a threshold of some kind as any additional money has to be reported to the tax office. You may well find you actually pay more blogging when you look at your actual costs as time is money even if you enjoy it. If you money goes into your bank and no doubt it does and at this point you will be self employed or having to put your earnings into a separate section if you are not already the latter or you will have to inform he tax office separately. They might decide to ask about your income and to show your expenses etc., but as it is something that may bring in a lot or very little they can decide you are actually earning a lot of money and charge what they consider you are earning. It may be worth calling the tax office and asking them a 'what if' 'how to do' type question, you don't check who are for doing that! Some may consider they will not inform the government but of course as that is not legal we wouldn't do that now would we? No one wants to trip up over something simple like that when they enjoy blogging. :A

Start blogging for the enjoyment. Any money that it generates is a bonus! :)

I am looking for a website that is similar to Grapevine logic.

Grapevine logic is catered for Youtubers and Youtubers only it seems. I am a blogger, Based on Instagram and I am looking for a website that is similar to grapevine logic that caters for bloggers and gives them a directory and direct access to sponsors.

I have never "blogged for an income" but I run my cricket clubs website and app - built from the ground up for the last 14 years. Links here - happy to answer any questions?
