You can set up a free blog at wordpress and start talking about things you like and even promote various affiliate programs including Amazon and Commission Junction for regular sales.

HI guys, i would love some advice about blogging and earning etc - i have a blog which has had over 5000 hits now which i was amazed at tbh and i have just added adsense to it and have earned almost £10 so far :)

The thing i am trying to work on at the minute is actually getting followers as i only have about 4 :o I recently added the subscribe via email box and have 5 email followers now but not quite sure how to get people to actually subscribe - i know nothing about web marketing and promotion but i am slowly trying to do some via twitter and facebook - think people are getting fed up of hearing about it though lol!!

I have been reading about squeeze pages and list building but i am a bit lost - has anyone on here used a squeeze page? Also i am thinking about writing an ebook as a give away for the squeeze page - any advice on this as well?

    Thanks :D

Well done on making some money already, it's taken me way longer than that to make £40!

Building up followers takes time and just because only 4 officially follow it doesn't mean that more than that aren't regularly reading. But you need to kind of get your name out there a bit - you can do this by reading other similar blogs and commenting on them (don't spam with your blog link though), register your blog with dome blog directories, offer some different ways to follow like Bloglovin', Google Friend Connect, Networked Blogs etc. You could maybe see if there are any events going on that relate to your blog and use that as an opportunity to network? A giveaway might be an idea at some point too?

Keep going with Twitter and Facebook - I link via Twitter when I've got a new post up as well as linking to news that relates to my blog. I've got my blog address on there too.

Re: Twitter-Each time I do a new blog I have been sending a humorous tweet and a link (my blog is meant to be funny) to well known people, comedy writers, people on the radio etc and have had a couple of retweets and several replies. I only send each tweet to a person once, but I sometimes feel like I'm spamming them!!

It's a thin line between getting yourself 'out there' and making a nuisance of yourself....does anyone else do this?

I also wonder what my handful of 'followers' think as they must be able to see all the tweets I'm sending to various people (I'm guessing they can see them-don't really know though).

On the plus side, I have seen an increase in traffic since doing it.

I didn't even know you could send a tweet to people who weren't following you :rotfl: you can tell i'm soooooooo experienced with these things can't you??? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: anyway, it sounds like its been working if its increased your traffic but i know what you mean about spamming.......i guess as long as its not repeated its just giving them the option to see what you are doing if they want to :)

Yes- you just start the message with whoever you are sending the tweet to, like @MartinSLewis.

  • Has Twitter really been useful for a few people then? I don't seem to get much luck with it (small number of followers though I guess).
