Hi all, i'm not really too sure how this all works i have tried to read through but I cant make too much sence of it all, my situation is that in December HBOS took my overdraft off me which was £750 now I was working at the time and had arranged to pay them it back monthly. Now I lost my job a few weeks back and i'm now having to pay out £500 from my final wage to clear the balance, now I have had bank charges this callander year alone totaling around £500, i don't think i'm entitled to any benifits as I was not made redundant, I stay with my mum and 13 year old brother and pay 'dig' money to her, the only other outgoings I have is phone bill and internet, would I be able to put a claim into the bank for financial hardship, I think over the years I must have accumulated about £1,500 - £2,000 in charges with the Abbey and HBOS combined.
Thanks in advance.

First things first with regards to benefits and I will come to bank charges shortly. I was dismissed from my job but I am eligible for JSA and Local Housing Allowance so get onto the benefits agency TODAY and sort out an appointment for either JSA or Income Support.
With regards to charges, have you got your statements from the past 6 years and beyond?
If not you need to get them to send you your details first.
EDIT: Local Housing Allowance is probably out.0 -

I will do that, cheers, I had been led to believe that I was not entitled to them, I worked in sales and missed my targets for 2 weeks and got the sack for it, was still in a 51 week probation period so didn't have a leg to stand on and was also told that if you were sacked you are not entitled to JSA for 6 months! No I only have statement from this year, from Jan until now I have had £580 of bank charges, can you get the amount over the phone or does it have to be a letter sent in?0 -
I had 10 and a bit years before being sacked so I didin't think I would qualify for benefit either until I was given as much grief as possible by friends.I will do that, cheers, I had been led to believe that I was not entitled to them, I worked in sales and missed my targets for 2 weeks and got the sack for it, was still in a 51 week probation period so didn't have a leg to stand on and was also told that if you were sacked you are not entitled to JSA for 6 months!
