My PC keeps saying updates required for AVG but when I try and download them I get a message saying the file is corrupted, try another file, but none of them work.
Anyone else had problems?

"The file" is corrupted? Which file? There is a large file in the root of C: (can't remember the name, other than it might be AV7something.UPD or .DAT, about 11 MB), which you could try deleting to see if it's that one (it gets recreated 'when necessary')...

It says the file that it wants to download is corrupted.... might just try deleting the whole lot and reloading it all.
Thanks for the info though John

Had the same problem a couple of months ago just after installing some MS updates (coincidentally). I deleted AVG and reinstalled it. And I am a happy bunny again :T"Did you hear about the frog that broke down on the motorway???? They toad him away!"0

Hi bridiej :hello:
Try downloading the updates manually from here to your desktop, then right-click AVG, pick Update then click Folder, click the Desktop or where you downloaded the updates to then let it run.
N.B. If you don't get a Folder button and it goes straight to the internet then double-click AVG, right-click Update Manager and select Properties then untick Don't ask for the update source then click OK.
I had this a while ago and manually downloading once fixed it, so then you should be able to update normally.

I keep seeing threads on MSE about problems with AV programs, in fact I think I have seen problems posted about every AV bar one.
I use NOD32, costs 50p a week , auto updates as many as 7-8 times a day depending how many new threats are found .
It has consistently been the highest rated AV in industry tests and does what it says on the tin. Runs quietly and seamlessly in the background using a tiny amount of system resources and stops everything, new undetected viruses etc are stopped due to its advanced heuteristic scanning. If it even looks like a virus and its not in the database it will block it , advise you and ask what you want to do .
I have never had a virus or trojan on my PC since installing it and every other AV let me down in some way.
I know this is a money saving site and I know that AVG is very good for a free AV but I consider 50p a week a small price to pay for something that is totally problem free !
