Duplicate Bookings - No Refund? (with Railcard)

Hi all,

I'll cut to thse chase.

I'm doing some travelling in May and have been looking to cut my travellings costs and I saw the £5 off with FGW deal and decided to book my Glasgow to London train with them. I also bought a 16-25 railcard from my local station on Saturday.

So I booked my ticket and had some problems. I have booked with FGW before (in the last week) and when I entered my card details it took me to a confirmation page saying my payment had been processed. This didn't happen when I tried to book my ticket. So I tried again. Each time I checked my e-mail address for a confirmation e-mail (which I received straight away when I booked before) which wasn't received.

So I got my boyfriend to book it for me using HIS e-mail address and MY card from his laptop and it worked and he forwarded me the e-mail confirmation.

ANYWAY at 3am I received 2 confirmation e-mails. Argh! So I went onto the FGW website and found an option to cancel tickets and one of the reasons listed was "duplication". So I tried to cancel and was told "Refund is not allowed for the selected ticket type".

I sent FGW an angry e-mail through their site and received a reply not telling me very much and to try calling them. I think it's because I used my railcard that I am not being allowed to request a refund. I received the tickets in the mail today.

What do you suggest I tell them when I call them? Has this happened to anyone else? What are the odds of me getting refunded?

I'm unemployed and don't have much spare money (infact, I have NO *spare* money!!!

Thanks everyone.

Kirsty
