Fake items- would you let the buyer know?

Just wondering if I am alone in this.

When I spot a fake gameboy game I report it, and because I know that ebay won't bother removing it (they don't seem to understand that some of these games aren't just copies, they were never produced by official means ) I stick it on watch and then send a message to the buyer once it's finished.

Thing is, I do this purely because these sellers make me sick- I send from the buying account and we don't sell games anyway- but I rarely even get a "thank you"

Ebay really needs to sort this out- one seller got over £30 quid last night from fake games and they were still there, on my watch list, this morning
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine. :p

  • I give up buying gameboy games from ebay now - Out of 13 GBA games purchased from ebay -(some bundles) only ONE game we have is genuine!! One game alone (which was advertised as being boxed as new) came in a plastic 'protective cover' and cost me 8.99!!

So i started to ask sellers if the games come in a cardboard box....I bought a game just before xmas (thinking i'd be safe to buy ones in actual boxes, and that they would be genuine) It was still a fake - and in a fakey shiny shiny box!!!( which you could tell had only just been assembled).
If google doesn't know it, how should i?

if they are fake, simple open a Not As Described claim and return it for a refund

What a good samaritan you are! As a Nintendo fan it aggreives me to see so many fake GBA games on ebay, they must make up like 95% of the market. I reported one to Nintendo once, but they didn't follow it up. Surely it's up to Nintendo to put some pressure on ebay?

    Who told you that?
Aside from the fact that it means that the seller can just scam someone else it is illegal to send fakes through post.
You can get your money back but you'll need some kind of official verification that they are fake.

Not sure I would be comfortable contacting a buyer (no good deed goes unpunished and all that), but you could report to FAST - http://www.fastiis.org/our_services/enforcement/reportingPiracy/
