pixels depend on what you're going to be using it for. The Canon Ixus 30 is 3.2mp and is around the £150 mark. I've got the Ixus 40 at 4mp and does me fine, also a great size, they even fit inside a cigarette packet.0

This is a god website to help you make up your mind as to what camera you want though it is not too great on prices https://www.dpreview.com.
Hope this helps!"...So...we've got a drop off, a double-cross, an ambush and then what?...then they shot a tramp..." :rotfl: [High Heels and Low Lifes]0 -
I was in the same position at Christmas - £150 and not knowing what to spend it on. Basically, that oney will get you something at the top end of the bottom-of-the-range (if you know what I mean). I was advised by two seperate retailers that I should splash out a bit more and buy a Nikon Coolpix - but I couldn't afford to.
Now, however, the Nikon Coolpix 4600 is on sale in Argos, I believe. You'll get some change out of your £150.
As for me, I got a Casio Z10. And very nice it is too. Cost me £120 and is well worth it. Only issue is that if I try and use Auto-Focus in movie mode, you can hear the AF whirring away in the video sound. So I just shoot video without AF on.0 -
Check out https://www.cameras.co.uk.
I was basically in the same situation as you not too long ago.... but this website was fantastic! It helps you decide how many pixels you need, and in fact guides you regarding any aspect of choosing a camera. Plus it finds the best prices for you.
Hope this helps0 -
I bought a Pentax Optio SVi with 5xoptical zoom and 5m pixels (I think) great little camera and good zoom facility. Worth having a look at, Jessops had them some months ago.

ummimg and arring about buying a Kodak Z740.
I've always wanted a camera with a powerful zoom. The Z740 has a x10 optical zoom (38 to 380 mm) , x5 digital zoom. It's a 5mp camera. The downside is that it's not exactly compact but I might just buy a cheapo camera to slip in my pocket for walking etc. A lot smaller than the old SLR's with the mega zooms though.0 -

Fuji F10 is very good and has Continous Video footage not 1min incrimental.0 -
You can easily pick up a Nikon Coolpix for that price. Search on Kelkoo for the best deal.
I have one and I love it. Mine has many functions that have proved invaluable as I have become a better photographer. The ability to manually change the settings becomes important if you want to improve your skills and the Coolpix is great for this. With Digital Cameras it is not just about how many megapixels but lens quality etc and Nikon score highly in that regard.
If you want to get advice on the High Street, in my opinion Jessops are the best.0 -
Try and get as high a megapixel as you can (I'd sugest a minimum of 3.2 which should be easily obtainable within your price range) and remember that optical zoom is important. I must admit to being a Canon fiend and I've got some good deals from Amazon in the past but do shop around. The beauty of the high street stores is that you can actually hold the camera, make sure that it's comfortable in your hand etc but, it doesn't mean you have to buy from them if you can get a better deal elsewhere.Live long and prosper0

Amazon and Pixmania are good on prices. Not sure on customer service though.
