Check Out Spanish898 (aka Beta89)'s post history for more bad advice. He story is widly inconsistent - according to another thread he passed his Law A Level a couple of years ago (making him 20, backed up by his username), and is supposed to have an established career in law enforcement.

Incidentally, I just heard of a similar case in Canterbury. Apparently the garage is council owned and they are having trouble evicting him. Perhaps a few phone calls to the press would encourage the council to pay for a hotel room.
    Been away for a while.

You don't actually know how it works do you. Bless.

To get LHA you have to be living somewhere, which they aren't.
To get somewhere you need a deposit, which they don't have - and agency fees (say £300).
If they had the agency fees and moved in somewhere they'd need to pay their rent while their LHA claim was being sorted out - up to 2 months.
They wouldn't get the money in cash, that is to pay the rent. They would get one lot of LHA for a 1-bed place, not two lots and not cash in hand.

I'd imagine that any job they did apply for would have 100-200 other applicants, who would most likely to picked above them because they're probably not the most mentally alert or brilliantly turned out candidates.

Stuff isn't as easy as some people think.

These people are homeless. They made a good choice to live in the garage. I'd have done that too, but I'd not be in a pub having a pub meal at £1.50, I'd be eating cold food at the garage until I could find a camping stove to heat up toast/soup on.

Topov, I recall your writing on the thread about this board being shut down that you were bullied on here. I've also seen your very large red writing on other threads screaming about abuse. Given both of those facts, why are you following Pastures around and throwing insults at her? Complaining about bullying then bullying another poster is pretty poor form.

A bit sad but unfortunately it was bound to happen due to recession

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/8020944.stm

Its pretty cold for late April.

I wouldn't want to be sleeping in a garage or worse still outdoors:(

Ok 1stly they DID have a house, since where the f***k do you think they lived for the last 30+ years??

Its their own fault if they only rented instead of bought it and paid off their mortage over the 20years.

But even if they decided that they didnt have any aspirations or ambition in their lives,
and so wanted just to just pay rent all their life and never own property,
what the hell happened to their house/flat that they lived in??

Claiming LHA takes 2weeks to 6weeks till you get 1st payment, backdated to a few days after you posted it off though.

So how the hell could they have lived to their late 30s/40s,
and yet in all that time not have been able to save enough money to cover 4weeks rent???!! (Which they would get back in LHA backdating anyways!!)

And its much more likely that they would have been given atleast 1weeks notice saying that they were being made redundant,
so why on earth didnt they send off the LHA form that same evening after work that day???!!

I have claimed both LHA and JSA myself so i know exactly how its paid,
and its sent into your bank account eevery 2weeks which you then withdraw and have as cash for yourself.

If you choose to have high cost rent or spend it on expenisve furniture than thats your choice,
but the cash is there as 'cash' for spending.
You choose what you spend it on and what prpice ranges you look at for stuff.

Its TOTALLY their own fault if in the 30-40s years that they have lived they havent 1st had the ambition to gain the skills to be able to get higer paying decent jobs,
or atleast have gained themselves the skills and experience that when they apply for jobs now they would have 20+ years on the new people who are leaving college with no experience and going for those jobs.

As indvidual people who are over 25 they would each be able to get between £700 - £850 per month in benefits for themselves!

Which is extremely high compared to what anyone whos under 25 gets!!

Which is totally f***d-up and disgraceful,
since its saying to people who have had 10-30years more time to gain wokr experience and save money,
    yet failed to do so,
oh well ok dont worry we will reward you for your laziness and failure.

Yet anyone whos under 25 and so has had less time to saveup money and less time to get work experience,
is basically told 'screw you', your only gna be able to get a money that you coudl actually live on if your over 25 and yet still havent got any savings or got a job!!

SO yes they could have done exactly what i have said unless they were so lazy.
Life's not about the destination..., its about the journey!!:kisses3::A

Im so sooo glad i realised this as it made me change my entire career and life!! :):smileyhea

Was that really necessary? If you read her post properly, you would have seen that she was saying it wasn't as easy as another person was saying to get themselves sorted.

What her personal circumstances have to do with it, I will never know.

Just a few simple questions....have you ever lost your job (for more than a few months)? Or had a house repossessed because of it?

In those last few months before you are finally moved out of your house, you are literally using every single penny you have to save yourself from reposession. There would be no chance to have any savings put by....it would have all gone in your quest.

I usually say this in sporting terms but it is apt here too, some people are designed for the top, some for the middle and some for the bottom (I usually say heatleader, middle order and reserve), they are all equally as important because without the ones nearer the bottom, the ones at the top would not be able to function, without the ones at the top, the ones at the bottom would be pretty much beggered and the middle order ones help support both the top and the bottom.

Nothing to do with ambition or wasting your life..I have oodles of ambition, lots of brains and have put the effort in but am still classed as being at the bottom due to my circumstances.
