I'm also looking at starting out in IT and was wondering if the CompTIA was the best to do. I have no IT experience as such but have good working knowledge of computers and various packages.

I'm currently looking at a 15 day intensive course with Cerco training, where they guarantee you a job afterwards, but wondered if anyone could give me any tips on this?

Tutored courses are good, if you are not disciplined learner.

The mike meyers book is very good (make sure it is the current edition)

Colleges are great, expect 14+ days (8 hour days) and some take a year for the basic and then another year for advanced (part time - in the evenings at 2 nights per week)

4 day of training for £800 as advertised in the news paper to pass the exams - well you might as weel do braindumps, testking or pass4sure as they only cost £50 and the tution is nearly just as good. The majority of newbies are are not able to comprehend the knoledge of a+ in 4 days, as you will see from the thickness of mike mayers book.
