More than case once they asked for photos or even a box he dropped the claim, very suspect. My work colleague has boxes chargers even headphones for nearly everything, well its about 4 items.

Yeah, that's the same as me, receipt for things not so much but other proof, yeah probably.

I think the insurance companies are maybe a little strict cos surely people try to claim for Wii systems that they don't own just cos so many households have them, you know?

I know they didn't ask for receipts for my CDs when I got burgled but then it was over 10 years ago and maybe they weren't so strict back then. Although I did have them replaced rather than take the cash (you didn't have to get the same ones so you could have had all new ones and not replaced some of the naff ones we all own). Although thinking about it the loss adjuster could clearly see two empty CD holders holding a total of a bit less than I was claiming for.

Paulfoel the reason they want a list of items in the freezer along with their prices are so they know how much to pay you. The other reason is to check the claim as people have a habit of exagerating freezer claims. Most of the freezer claims I have seen normally have venison and that type of expensive meat in them! They have found people who have given lists of food they had in the freezer and when the Insurers checked out the capacity of the freezer they discovered it was physically impossible to have that much food in the freezer...

Thanks for the replies, I don't understand the people that claim for stuff they haven't had or stuff they have never owned. Surely this type of thing has a habit of oming back around and you pay next you renew your insurance the premimum will go up!

Happens all the time. There is a story going round, possibly anecdotal, that travel insurers have paid more claims for 'lost' Louis Vuitton luggage than has ever been made.

Exagerating freezer claims is fairly common as people probably have around £80ish of food in a freezer so when they ring up to make a claim and are told you have a £50 excess and your premium will go up by about £20. A Lot of people have the have the view they have paid insurance for x years and are entitled to claim and for some reason they do not regard exageratting their claim to be fraud. So they increase the cost of the freezer contents to cover the £50 excess and often the increase in premium.

I agree with cogniti, they also tend to have a pair or more of ray ban glasses etc in their luggage

Go back 15 years or more and the weren't so hot on adjusting premiums due to claims made. An ex of mine used to use his insurance as a replacement service for when he fancied something new - just used to have some accidental damage to his carpet say and claim for a new one. Can't get away with stuff like that these days.

The stuff in my freezer isn't worth much at all, although some families who eat properly have no doubt got chest freezers containing lots of meat.
