hi all picked up one of the cheap laptops tesco had on offer ,Gateway 15.4" screen running vista, but there seems to be a problem when you turn the laptop off and then turn it on next day it cant find "any" wireless networks ,but if I reinstall the wireless drivers it then picks up all networks around us ,dont want to bring it back as £99 seems to be a steal and can always pick up a usb wireless stick ,so anyone else got a gateway laptop and had same problem

Does everything appear fine in device manager, it's a bit of a strange one. Is the wireless enabled at boot.0
-
yes everything seems fine and when i reinstall the wireless driver and it reboots it finds the networks no problem0

Sure you're shutting it down?
I remember when I first used Vista the 'Main' button in that area of the start menu is actually sleep, where experience of XP suggests it should be 'Shut Down'0 -
I have a desktop running vista and I think I know how to shut it down sorry0

A couple of utilities that will scan for networks, and give an indication of whether the wireless card is actually live and able to see anything when the vista scanner doesn't, inssider requires .net framework.0
