BT Home Phone Calling Plans

I'm having trouble understanding the latest call plan offerings BT. I can't understand why you can choose between free weekend calls or free weekend calls and free evening calls inclusive and there's no charge? What am I not understanding?
Further to that question - Is there an easy way of identifying the cheapest calling plan based on my usage data? Any ideas? I thought BT used to offer this? Maybe I'm thinking of an automated friends and family analysis.

Welcome to the MSE forums PenguinVenture.
The Unlimited Weekend Plan is free.
The Unlimited Evening & Weekend Plan costs £2.95/month or, if you agree to a 'renewable' 12 month contract, is free.
F&F no longer exists.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

Hi Heinz, thank you for the welcome!
So the only catch is that I'm signing a commitment for 12 months loyalty? Sounds alright to me.0
