i very rarely go in our local co-op but as i needed milk and a tin of beans and was passing i went in.
got me milk and beans and popped them on the roof of the buggy. was immediately swooped on by the security guard who told me company policy i must have a basket.
i told him i rarely come in the store and would remember if i come again. as i walked off he asked where i was going and i said to pay and he told me to put my 2 items back where i got them from and to go and get a basket. i told him to stop being rediculous and walked off to the till with him following me like im some dirty chav theif.
there are no signs in the store about this 'policy'. and, didnt think of it at the time, how is a disabled mother of 2 with one walking child and one in a buggy meant to hold a basket?

i rarely go in there. when we were leaving he was stood right by the doors and stared at me, i said to me mum i was gonna say something [offer him to check the buggy for stolen goods] but she said its not worth it.
i should make it my mission to go in there for one item and walk round the whole store with it in my hand or on top of the buggy. wind the sod up lolThere's someone in my head, but it's not me0 -

Like others said, Write a letter to the management and maybe Co op HQ0 -
i used to be a security guard at a co-op store until 6 months ago. this is not company policy. did the guard have an s.i.a. badge on display?0

It's not company policy, but our security guard would always get a basket for someone that was carrying loads of things and needed one. If someone put things in their buggy then we'd watch them on camera, but assume that they are not out to steal.

Sounds like an arris.
Yes, wind him up a bit. I wouldn't be able to stop myself.
I've started taking everything out of it's packaging at the till, ...they LOVE that. Seeing as they don't give out bags anymore, it makes perfect sense.
