I've just pushed the one bell box back on with my hand (I can reach them from the windows) It looked like it was slightly away from the wall... weird... However the service light is still lit? Also it says "rr" on the screen...

It means "remote reset" and it normally means that you will need a four digit reset code from your alarm company.

Alarm company... but would that be Scantronic or Modern alarms, (I don't think they exist anymore?) I have a four digit code but that doesn’t seem to do anything. Any suggestions?

No, it would mean your local alarm maintainer.

Yes I'd gathered that! It may be that you need to have it reset and reprogrammed now and that means getting someone in I guess.

You said that you could touch the bell box. I don't like the sound of bell boxes that are easily able to be touched as this renders them liable to tampering.

I've been reading this manual and I have no idea what the Engineer code is, I tried the default - didnt work (I'm home alone, trust it to be temperamental now lol)

The bell box's are high up but I can still reach it by opening the bedroom window ;)

Oh I see, you meant from the upper level!

On these panels there is often a place on the circuit board where you can reset it by using a screwdriver to bridge across two points and this then resets the alarm panel. Mind you, you would then face the task of reprogramming it and if you're not familiar with these things they can be a nightmare. Whoever installed it would have set the engineer code and the only way to find out what it is is by contacting whoever set it. The only other way around the problem is to reset the panel and reprogram it I reckon.
  • You need to do this

    Refreshing the NVM
If the user and/or engineer codes are lost, or you want to revert to the factory
    default programming, then:
    1. First remove mains power before opening the case and then disconnecting
    the battery.
    2. Identify and remove the NVM chip (IC4) on the main pcb (see Figure 1).
    3. Reconnect the battery, then re-apply mains power.
    4. Refit the NVM chip (note the locator marker position, see Figure 1).
The end station loads the factory default access codes (User 1: 1234,
    engineer: 7890).
    5. Carry on to re-program the system.

As it says in the manual you have previously posted on here. The procedure is on page 12.

Reprogramming the system is not too hard if you have a little bit of knowledge. Definatly worth trying yourself before calling someone out?

Please be aware. When you open the case you will have removed mains power, so therefore should be safe. No nasty shocks!
However it says to reapply the mains power with the cover off then reinstall the chip.
This means that there will be 230v inside the panel. If you dont know what you are doing get someone else in. 230v can easily KILL!

    Hope this helps?

    Ben
