Hiya,
I'm after a digital tv tuner, usb, for m'laptop. But also I'd like if I could use it at home and just plug it in without getting a lead from my laptop to my TV as I don't want to leave my laptop switched on whenever I watch TV.
Any products out there? I've found USB Digital TV Tuners and freeview boxes but no hybrids

No such product exists I'm afraid.
The thing about USB DVB-T receivers is that they're just that - receivers. The real work is done in the software, which demultiplex and process the transmission.
It's a great idea, but they would have to do a helluva lot more than a USB stick. Really, they would need to have an AV out signal to work with a telly. Maybe in a few years eh?Of course, I may just be talking b****cks!0 -
Ah... thanks for that.
Sorry for asking what I now see is a totally stupid question

I don't see it as a stupid question, in fact I think it's inevitable that such a product will materialise in a few years time.Of course, I may just be talking b****cks!0

It's not only inevitable; it's already happened! Hauppauge provide just such a device in the form of the DEC-2000-T.0

Wow! Oh well, just shows you what I know then... although to be fair this is more than just a 'stick', it looks like a set-top box with PC-connectivity.Of course, I may just be talking b****cks!0

But this would presumably need the desktop/laptop to be switched on for the receiver to work. Kinda defeats the point.-TangleFoot- wrote:It's not only inevitable; it's already happened! Hauppauge provide just such a device in the form of the DEC-2000-T.
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0 -
Cheers, but at £132 it's a little bit pricey!!

Don't be silly! It's a self-contained unit with a discrete power supply.Aiadi wrote:But this would presumably need the desktop/laptop to be switched on for the receiver to work.
It's currently on sale at Savastore for £95. That's the lowest price I could find using Froogle.spaceage wrote:Cheers, but at £132 it's a little bit pricey!0
