Exactly. It doesnt matter for the vast majority of those in neg eq. You either wait until your capital repayment buy you out of neg eq or you save up to fill the gap or you stay put.
... or you sell now, rent for a while and buy at the bottom.
For example, assume 10% NE.
1. Take a personal to cover the NE and sell now.
2. Rent.
3. Buy at some time in the futiue when prices have fallen by a further 10%+.

Nice couple, I think about the situation they will be in, but last time I checked no-one held a gun to their head or twisted their arm.
