I sorted out my broody hens. Not very MSE though - bought a new small coop.
My bantams original batch of 10 eggs is now sat on by another of the hens -still in the nest box. Due 18th but they were left for a 'long'day so not expecting much.
Bantam now on the other hens 2 eggs in the new coop.
Other broody still on her small clutch in a broody coop.
Heavens knows if we will get anything. I should have sorted them out sooner.

4 eggs= 1 yellow fluffy chick (hatched yesterday), 2 cracked eggs (fingers crossed for tom hatch), 1 egg not doing much
so pleased that against all odds my broody not sat and near starved herself for nothing.
also got a mottled pekin cockerel today to go with my hens as theyre mottled pekins so might just have some cuter than cute chicks in the coming months0 -

Well my very clever 1st time mum has looked after 4 eggs and beaten all odds of 3 beaut yellow fluffy chicks. (one of them has a balck strip down its head)
HOWEVER, my second broody has decided that shes not broody anymore, the new cockerel is loving the 2 hens.
I ordered 12 eggs from ebay, only 6 have come:mad:
ive also bought an incubator (good job now the broodys not so broody), thats flaming rubbish too. it comes with a thermometer which has 100f clearly marked but no other numbers letters nada nil nothing:mad::mad:
the 6 eggs are waiting on the side to go into the incubator, the rude ignorant ebay seller is ignoring my emails, do i harrass him or report him? had to purchase another thermometor which has markings othe than 100f
and all this to have fresh eggs and make some money selling the eggs. is it worth it?
YES, fluffy yellow cheep cheep chookies:D:D0
