Sun Holidays - problem with booking

Hi - sorry if this is in the wrong place but this is my frst go at starting a thread.
I carefully collected the 7 tokens & sent my form to The Sun. Received my booking form from holiday camp but there was an extra charge for gas/electricty even though I was also charged £18 Service charge. Sun website did not mention tokens at this particular park so (making a stand) I sent £18 & advised I would query the additional charge with The Sun as it was their website that gave me the information but Hotline doesn't open until 13th may. Today I received my £18 cq back & a note saying my booking is not accepted.
i am now stuck as can't speak to The Sun until 13th may & in the meantime I have lost my booking.
Can anyone offer words of advice to progress query before 13th May - also worried that park won't be very welcoming even if I do get a 2nd chance!!

Was the service charge not for entertainment passes? Every time we have booked with the Sun we have recieved an invoice from the holiday park with entertainemnt passes charges, electricity charges and linen charges. You can phone them up and request no linen and no entertainment passes (but them you can't use the swimming, club etc) but you have to pay the electricity.

I'd phone up the park in question and ask them whats going on - have they cancelled your booking or not. I'd imagine you would not get a refund from the Sun so you'd be far better off telling them that you did not want to cancel it and just didn't understand the charges.

In all the holidays I've booked (and they have been many...) all charges quoted in the paper were correct. Have you double cheked the site thorugh the Sun Website: ukholidaysinthesun.co.uk all charges should be on there.

The FAQ on their website says:

Q: What's the 'Service Charge' for?
This is primarily a charge for pre-arrival cleaning of your accommodation and for heat and light. Where applicable, this will be charged to you by your park when your booking is confirmed. See each park listing for specific charges.

I don't think you will be able to sort this prior to 13th, but I would contact the park and say you don't wish to cancel the booking, you were just querying the costs.

I'd maybe ask them to clairfy what the service charge is and what the gas/electricity is.

    Which park is it?
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

*this post wont solve your problems op sorry*

Everytime I have used sun holidays these charges always apply ~ service charge and gas/eleactirc and then linen at some places but you get the £10 back. I have used both parkdean and haven. Generally when you add up the £40 you have sent to sun and then all these charges the holiday costs £100. In my case I was charged an extra £50 at parkdean and then an extra £70 at haven, on top of the £40 already sent to the Sun. Now considering you can go direct through parkdean/haven and get a 7 night holiday for £99 with web/early bird discounts you soon realise that the sun holidays arnt so cheap

Each time I see the new thread for 'this years' sun holiday vouchers I post the same thing. People must check direct first ~ plus remember cashback. Its usually much cheaper. The only good points with the sun vouchers are the holidays in Europe.
  • Thank you for your replies. I originally sent the service chg (£18) with a letter explaining that the sun website did not mention tokens - have been back today & checked & only says £6 per night per unit & no entertainment passes. Think holiday park didn't like me querying the extra cost & just cancelled my booking. When I rang the park she just said that the cost stood & I was the only one to query. Think I will have to wait for Sun Hotline although I have tried sending an email to their customer service email address.
Will let you know how I get on - I know that it is only £12 but it is the hidden costs that stop it being a bargain.
