Where in the world to go? (Tight budget!)

Hello! Unlurking myself to join up and join in >waves!<
Anyway, I really need help deciding where to go this summer - I'm open to all suggestions as long as its somewhere not too package/beach/touristy type place (yes am snobby!
:rotfl: )
It would be preferably July/August, although early Sep might be fine if it wuld be cheaper? Budget is a paltry £300, including spending money. That is le bfs stipulation - I'm prepared to save up and so spend a bit more, but I'm being super tight-waddy at the moment to save up for travelling so I suppose that's why! Anyway, I'd love to go somewhere culturally interesting or with pretty buildings or sights. When I'm richer I want to travel round India, or China or Morocco, or do the Inca Trail - just to give you some idea! We went to Paris last year and loved it, and are going to Rome in April. We have no car so will need somewhere accessible by public transport, although camping is an option. We might just go to the lakes or cornwall to camp (well, not "just", both are lovely, but I'm just itching to see new places!)
Any ideas or am I pushing it?
Thanks!

Try your local library for the 'Rough Guide' or 'Lonely Planet' guide books. You could go for a budget flight somewhere european and then if you have an appropriate guide it will direct you to accomodation based on your budget and tell you about places of interest with maps, public transport details etc.
Many years ago me and a friend back-packed around Turkey for 6 weeks. We used the Lonely planet guide and it was invaluable. Istanbul is a great city to visit, very cultural.
Mow married with child we tend to go for packages, but I would love to do the back packing holiday againI like to live in cloud cuckoo land :hello:0 -
How about Athens and the area around it. Cheap flights can be got very easy and hotels, BB wont cost the earth either. There is plenty to see there and they have a good transport system. Some of the near by island would be easy to get to and can be done cheaply as foot passengers on the ferry'sIf you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0

Budget Airline flight to Venice then follow the advise on this site for Croatia, I recommend signing up to the site and browse the forums and post for help, they are very friendly
http://www.visit-croatia.co.uk/travellingaround/italy.htm
Buses run regulary and are cheap, rooms to let everyware for around £8 a night, food and drink is cheap and the locals bend over backwards to help you.
Nearly everyone under 35 speaks some English, a lot are fluent. lots of historical sites to see and the sea is like Gin !
High personal recommendation !

Not really India, way off actually, but i did Oslo, Norway last weekend for a penny each way!!! Total with taxes was £25. Oslo is lovely, lots of public transport, minus 18 deg's though, so take a hat, lots of snow too!
Venice is lovely, Barcelona is Jeans and T shirt weather around that time, Prague is absolutely gorgeous, very picturesque, Dublin i aint keen on and Paris as you say is also lovely. Further afield, New York is awesome, and closer to home, Wales & The Lakes are fantastic for walking. If you like climbing type walking, Crib Gough (gock?, spell wrong i think) is a great climb / walk if you have the bottle. Do the walk, pitch a tent, come down, get drunk, go to sleep!
Have fun, i got the travel bug ages ago, just done Australia, Malaysia etc
regards:T The more money i save, the quicker i can buy my Audi0
