I love Nochex but I found a lot of people have never heard of it. I used to have a Paypal account a long time ago but I can't remember my sign in details any more and it won't let me open a new account because it says my card is registered to another account, the anoying thing is I know there is about 40 quid in there!

I haven't had any problems using Nochex. They don't have the chargeback protection that PayPal has but as long as the company you are buying from is reputable you should be fine.

Yes they do. Credit card chargebacks are provided under law by the consumer credit act.

In fact they have some chargeback protection for sellers which Paypal doesn't have. The buyer's protection is the same with both companies.

The reason nobody has heard of Nochex is twofold. First, they only take UK credit cards so no worldwide presence. Also, Ebay shove Paypal down buyers' (and sellers') throats and make it difficult to use Nochex. When selling worldwide on ebay, you have to have a method by which non-uk buyers can use which is invariably Paypal. When the UK buyer sees Paypal on the list of accepted payment methods, in they go. It is difficult to steer them over to Nochex.

Nochex now accepts overseas payments, but you have to open a merchant acocunt with them.

does anyone on here have a nochex merchant account? did you upgrade from a basic sellers account & if so are the benefits worth the £50?

it mentions the charges for a merchant account are tiered depending on the transactions. are these charges reasonable compared to the basic sellers account?
