Hi,
Ok I am a complete techno-phobe!! So please bare with me.
I live with my parents, the deal was I bought the laptop, they would pay for the internet.
So its been like that for about 7 years. My lap top is now a little slow when connecting to internet and being on there.
Am assuming its the laptop and not our Virgin Broadband.
I had a call from T-Mobile as I have a mobile with them. They wanted to offer me mobile broadband for about £12 a month. This was 8mbs I think (not sure what thats about, but the speed or something). She said as and when they updated their technology it would automatically update.
She said this would be all I needed to be wireless, no other box needed or router etc.
Is this good value? Will the speed be the same as my current broadband? Its an 18 month contract.
P.S should say il never be completely wireless, as my laptop wont turn on unless plugged into the mains :-)
Thanks

Mobile broadband isn't a replacement for proper broadband in most cases. The download limits are often extremely strict limiting the amount of use you'll be able to get from it and quality of signal can be enormously patchy.0

Mobile broadband is generally cack (for most people). Depending on the signal in your area I would expect a rough connection of 256k (ignore the 8Mbs they quote). If 256k is good enough for you then by all means. But personally I think mobile broadband is a fair con unless you are one of the lucky few who live in the line of sight of a HSDPA mast and can get a decent speed.
TMobile have a 1gb and 3gb cap I believe which makes things worse IMHO.0 -
Thanks thats all I needed to know. Will give it a miss and stick with what we have, cant handle things going any slower!! :beer:Is a sufferer of SAD, so don't blame me, blame the depressing English weather!!!:beer:0

Some informationa about your laptop may help us determine as to why it is "slow".
Brand and model number.
On the keyboard, press the Flying Windows Key together with the Pause Break key and when the box pops up, let us know what is reported under System and Computer.0 -
Thanks I will do this when I am next on and let you know.
I have had 'issues' with it ever since I bought it. I was just glad I bought the 5 year warranty, however this has since expired.
It went back to the manafacturer 3 times, and came back, once had new hard drive!! Not had much luck with it, now it wont turn on unless its plugged in, so am guessing the battery is dead.Is a sufferer of SAD, so don't blame me, blame the depressing English weather!!!:beer:0
