help with excel

I wonder if anyone could help me with this.
I have an excel spreadsheet which has various columns. I want to transfer some of the columns to another sheet.
The columns which I want to transfer contain information from other cells and therefore will alter depending on what is entered in the other cells.
I have tried cutting and pasting. This works to an extent; the values are transferred, but if the values from the first sheet are changed at all, the second sheet does not change, and I need this to change.
Does this make sense?
What am I doing wrong?

Instead of pasting, right click where you want to paste, select Paste Special and in the box that appears click the Paste Link button at the bottom left. The cells will now show whatever is in the copied cells.0

Much like PhilCo says you can also just highlight the cells you want, copy and paste into another sheet. Then at the bottom of the cells you have pasted there is a little clipboard button thing, click it and select "Paste Formulas.
If you need to cells to remain constant in the sheet put $ signs if front. e.g. $B$17 so when you copy those cells into any other cell it keep that formula. Obviously take the $ sign from either the column or row if you need it to change.0
