Did this happen in a public or privately operated car park?

If you have proof then they will drop the fine. Same happened to me not long ago, took the ticket with me to council counter that dealt with claims, cancelled it there and then.

Beware many fixed penalty issuers now have their own proof that no ticket was displayed. (They take photos of the offending car).

This negates anyone getting hold of someone else's ticket and claiming it was there all the time. Most regs now include the need to not only have a ticket, but to display it properly.

Photos are not exactly as evidential as they like to suggest.

In fact, it is the lowest priority of all the methods of recording.

Personally, I'd send them a scan of the ticket, saying something along the lines of:

"here is a copy of the ticket your operative seems to have missed"

Which has worked several times for my authority.

    :)
  • I paid my parking fine to Harrogate Borough Council within two days of the allowed 14 days before attaching the extra (double) fine. They received it l10 days-ish later. I have paid the £25 but they want the other £25 = £50!! I am so annoyed. It's not my fault that they did not get it on time. Does anyone think it's worth arguing this further or do Councils normally just stick to their guns and prosecute? I feel like letting them take me to court and argue that I have paid the initial charge. What do you think???

Firstly, please start your own thread (unless you are the OP under a nother name?), and also read the sticky, and follow the instructions.
