  • Hi hill of beans,

I beleieve that you can switch while bankrupt but i believe it is more likely that you will not be able to do a monthly direct debit so will have pre-payment meters.

I don't know for sure but that is what i have learnt along the way

They do make me laugh, mine said exactlly the same when i had a £600 bill for a quarter and was £387 in arrears. My dad paid it for me luckily but still crazy.

Hi startagain, how were you able to switch if you were in arrears....I thought that it was impossible to switch providers until you had cleared any arrears?

EDIT: and is it possible to switch providers AFTER becoming bankrupt?

    Sorry - I missed this.....

I was on quarterly bills with my ex supplier and we hadn't reached the billing date. I switched to the new supplier paying by monthly direct debit. The bill from the ex supplier came in about 3 weeks after BR and I just put it in the pot. Not really arrears but the quarters bill leading up to BR. I had used all my cash to pay my fees and couldn't afford to pay it to be honest.
