Hi,
I am just looking for some advice, I have recently enquired about making a claim on my house insurance. No sooner had I done this I received a letter from the insurer saying that as I was claiming then my premium was being pushed up ! Is this normal ? I have had a home policy for 10 + years and never made a claim and now I am thinking about making a fairly small claim and they are saying that this will affect my current policy. I was just wanting to know if this is normal practice as it seems shocking to me !!

If this is permitted in your current year it will say so in the policy.
If you can't find anything in your policy about this, ask your insurer to show you how they are allowed to increase your premium mid term.0 -
Is this at renewal or during the policy year?

If its at renewal, its probably down to loss of a no claims discount.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Thanks for the swift replies, this is during the policy year !0
