Increasing bit rate to 320?

I have just bought Ultimate Ears headphones for my MP3 player. Reveiws suggest to increase the maximum bit rate to 320. How do I know if my WMP can increase this & how do I do it?
What are the advantages of doing this in general? Does it mean I won't get as many songs on a CD?
Many thanks

This is refering to mp3 sampling rate.
Increasing the bitrate is done at the encoding (or 'ripping') stage i.e. when you convert your CDs etc to mp3s.
There will be a setting to adjust the bitrate (128, 160, 192, 320kbps etc).
Only you will know if there is any benefit to this when you listen to your mp3s but be warned - the higher the bitrate, the larger the file size so that's fewer tracks per CD I'm afraid.0 -
Many thanks for the speedy reply & help.

I only have WMP 10, but go to tools/options/rip music.
Here you can alter the bit rate with a little slider.
I can't imagine other versions are much different.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
You say you're using an MP3 player, but mention how many songs you will get on a cd...
If you are burning audio tracks to a CD, so you can play them on a standard CD player the size of your mp3s isn't going to make any difference. However 192kbps is roughly CD quality. But as mentioned obviously the larger 320kbps files will take more space on your hard disk.0 -
also never re-encode something that is a lower bitrate to a higher birate it dont work that way, u need to encode it from source to get the high bitrate0

192kbps CBR is fine for everyday listening on your mp3 player. 320kbps CBR is generally used for archiving music collections.
You can utilize 192 kbps VBR if quality is important to you, but file storage size is limited.0 -
I use an MP3 player, but was wondering how many songs burned at 320 you would get on a CD in comparson to what I get on a cd using a smaller figure.
