problems with direct choice

i decided to go with direct choice for my car insurance. what a mistake:eek:. they quoted online £340. thats £60 deposit and £28 monthly payments. they have taken 2 months to take the first dd from my bank and they have taken 2 instalments and charged me £38 per instalment. i called them to ask what they were doing. they said that they got the instalment price wrong on my quote and that they should have been for £32.50 and the other £5.50 a month was an interest charge. i was never told any of this.
have they broken any rules. and could i cancel the policy as mis sold. this price makes them far more expensive than any other insurer.

If they made the mistake, as you say they have admitted, they I would have thought that you can complain and cancel. Can you prove they have said they made an error? Do you have proof of the origional quote?
Is the £28 just something you calculated youself? Interest is almost always charged when you pay for your insurance rather than on installments, and certainly when it is a broker like direct choice it will be very high. You are essentialy paying for the insurance premium on credit.
You say they didn't charge you for the first 2 months? Well, installments are quite often taken over 10 months not 12.0
