malicous phone calls

hi
last week we took out insurance this was at 22:07 . now the occupation i selected was not spot on but nearest to what they had .
so this is the only company we phoned , only company we gave are details to. with in 20 mins we where reciving phone calls from a man pretending to know me and said he was my boyfriend! this is not true. the calls where of a sexual nature then abusive. by the last phone call it was clear they did not know what i look like as for they gave the wrong discription..... then started to be silly. they recited my occupation back to us and we realised it was defently something to do with this company as for i never use * spa assistant* .
after phoning the non emergancy police they phoned me back the next day and confirmed it wasnt unusual for insurance comapanies to miss use details , he also agreed with me it must have been them but i have to prove it , so after arguing with talk talk they agreed to trace number after filling out loads of forms we are back to square one and they are refusing again. saying as for it was withheld . when i mentioned police again they have told me to get the police to phone them. im going round in circles . the phone calls where extremley abusive ( death threats) told us are address ( pronounced it wrong thou) . i have also reported them to telephone prefrences. i am also going to write to the head office of the insurace company . any thing else i should do ??

Talk Talk won't do anything unless the police approach them , make the complaint , supply all the details and the police apply to get the information from Talk TalkEx forum ambassador

my feeling is that it is probably a call center agent from the insurance company who wrote down your details. My advise is call the insurance agency and ask the manager to investigate. Obviously they may have a dangerous employee on their hands. Chances are they probably will be able to find out who it is. Someone for the company I work for was sacked for this.0

Definitely get in touch with the insurance company as it appears from what you have posted that it must be someone from there. Make sure you send the letter by recorded delivery too but it may be worth phoning them and lodging the complaint by phone and following it up with the letter.0

omg thats awful, I definatley agree, call the manager of the company, get the complaint logged. I guess the company record their phone calls so they can find your call find out who took it and take it from there maybe?? xx2012 Wins - Danepak Fridge Magnet, £20 Just Eat Voucher, iTunes Song Download, Yellow Toaster and Kettle, Thorntons Bunny, 6 Months Gym Membership, £250 Multipower Products, 3 X Dalepak Vouchers, 10 minute sunbed session, Lucozade Sport, 2 X BMI Flights, Android Zeemote,0

I would lodge a complaint also. They should be able to trace how many times your number was called from their system if thats what they used0

hi phoned police again and they told me id said i didnt want to proceed, think that was a misunderstanding so had to re report it.....
so they gave me a crime number to give to talk talk , but this time they said not to contact the company until i have the call traced as for the person could have done it from there own phone ( mobile) , so back to phone company i go.......0 -

Talk Talk (or any other phone company) will NEVER pass on the details of a third party to you - they would be in breach of the Data Protection Act. A crime number means nothing to them, it could be for anything. Any approach for this information must come from the police.
Based on personal experience, it is highly unlikely that the police will do anything about your malicious call. There is too much paperwork for them to fill in to find who called you. After a few weeks you will find your case has been closed because of insufficient evidence (i.e. they did not look for any evidence).
However, you may wish to write a strongly worded letter to the insurance company stating that your personal details were used unlawfully by one of their employees.
If the company has a half decent IT system, they will be able to tell who accessed your details (but are not obliged to pass on this information to you).0 -
I wouldn't let this drop.
I found the Police unhelpful once when I had a similar phone issue.
Have you spoken to your own telephone companies malicious calls bureau yet?0
