You don't sound to bad to me mr_nice_guy...just wanted to say 'Good Luck' with all this....
I'd be listening to your Solicitor, and keeping your son happy. Good to see that is your one of your main motives in this mess. The effect of all this on your son, bad enough for adults, but will be much magnified for a teenager, so keep him informed, without the worring detail obv, and reassured it will work out OK, try to get some quality time together where you can put this worry aside for a while.
STBX must be enjoying you paying the mortgage to bring the capital down, and is stalling while months pass by and another payment from you goes out...
What would your STBX say if you asked for that £100 per month and half of the mortgage payment? Wouldn't that show her that your patience is running out and make her see she needs to get going while the going is as good as it is for her and move on?
I can see you're trying to do the right thing here.
Hope it works out for you and yr son, and new partner.

No, I have given an ultimatum that if things are not settled by the end of the month (we came to the original decision in January!) then the house goes - come what may!
I think she probably has to agree to the house sale.
Why not go interest only on your mortgage? That way your payments are reduced and you aren't paying any of the capital off. What would your STBX say if you asked for that £100 per month and half of the mortgage payment? That £100 a month includes the mortgage payment.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I just can't understand it - if my solicitor is right in what she says, STBX is unlikely to get very much at all, if anything. STBX has a good job (> £30k) and has only herself to keep, whereas I now have 2 dependants and a partner on low wage. Why not go interest only on your mortgage? Oh well - I'll get the other side of this mess and worry about it then, it's not like I'm going to want a mortgage this side of the credit crunch is it??!!!
BTW, I'd like to thank you for your responses - I'll let you know the outcome tomorrow, for now its a waiting game!0 -

Hi All,
Jus tthought I'd let you know it's all settled. Good sense prevailed in the end - all I need is for her solicitor to pull their finger out and she will sign!
Phew!0
