I hope I have put this in the right place - apologies if not, I did search so settled on this section.
I purchsed (today) an ipod nano, along with a case, with the case was a card offering me 35 free songs and 1 free audiobook. Fabby for a novice like me.
So I signed up, gave cc details and started downloading. The selection of music was fairly poor (nothing I recognised from the last 10 years) so I decided to download so 'fitness compilation' tracks and cancel immediately.
After a few I had lost track so waited for the down load window to finish and close then refreshed my browser. The ticker told me I had 9 downloads left so I selected a further 9 and was poised to cancel. When it finished it informed me that I had gone into the first 50 paid for tracks and I had 49 left - so I have been charged i assume. I have emailed to complain as I feel tricked, clearly I should have counted religiously but am I being unreasonable to think I ought to be able to trust the counter on their website?
I'm not a happy bunny.

Aw, you signed up?
You could've got quidco as well.
I like emusic a lot, it's got a good selection of stuff I like. They are, however, spamming !!!!!!!s.
Email addresses that have only been made available to them have recently started receiving mental amounts of spam. In the region of several hundred emails a day.
I've always found the website to work well though, I've had no problem using the free trial then cancelling, before incurring charges. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -
B*gg*r. I'm regretting it even more now - I HATE spam so very much. I should have used a disposable address.
The problem is that my type of music is Marley, Tosh, Dylan, Clapton etc and I was trying to update my listening with the latest chart stuff. I don't want my son thinking I am totally out of touch... <<deep sigh>>0 -
Does the lack of response mean that I ought to just pay up and shut up then?
I'm so peeved, especially as it was meant to be FREE damnit!0 -
Blew is you failed at the first hurdle. First in on MSE and down a few quid!! long way to go with you then. Call the credit card people and hold payment. Nothing is Free esp music industry. Got any CD's. Try above
LOL

I just need to find 49 (carefully counted) tracks to download now...a lesson has been learned.0 -

Interesting
Maybe the person who wrote it's Scottish. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -
Hmm interesting indeed.
I have been trying to find a copy of Johnny Cash singing A Man (or is it Boy?) Named Sue, no (or even nae) luck on that front. But I suppose I can't rate emusic down on that score though.
I have however, got myself a copy of Tim Curry's Sweet Transvestite which always makes me laugh!0 -
I'ev been signed up for a few months and never had any problems nor spam...
Just seen they're running a new offer on Time Out...

Just got to say that eMusic is very good. If you are interested in music you will find loads of great stuff. Maybe you have just closed your mind a little bit to new musical experiences. Go on give it a go and have a little explore. By way of some sort of compensation you will find that if you look in Browse you will find a number of Free Tracks to download, and some of them are quite good.Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. - Proust0
