Garmin Quest Sat Nav frozen

My Garmin Quest Satnav (6 years old) has frozen. The trick of pressing the on/off and zoom together shuts it down but when switched on again it doesn't find sats - just keeps searching and the menu and other buttons "bleep" but don't work. I have tried to connect it to my PC to update software but as I can't switch to "use indoors" it doesn't hook up. I am thinking of screwing off the back and disconnecting the battery to see if it will go again after that? Might that work? Any advice appreciated.

Afraid the tricks didn't work. Garmin have sent me driver updates and unit updates but I don't think these get to the GPS unit as it remains frozen and cant be switched to "use indoors". I have tried disconnecting the battery, leaving for 5 mins and reassembling but it remains the same. Anyone know if there is a "reset" feature inside the unit?

OK folks here is the fix from Garmin and it worked on my GPS unit. Hope it helps someone else - thanks for help above. Quote"
I would try a master reset to see if it will fix the issue.

A master reset will erase all waypoints or favorites and will restore your device to the default factory settings.
To perform a Master Reset on a Quest® unit, follow these steps:
    1. With the device powered OFF, press and hold the Page and OK buttons simultaneously
    2. While holding the Page and OK buttons, power the device ON
    3. A message stating Would you like to erase all user data? should display. Once this displays, release the Page and OK buttons
    4. Select Yes
    5. Press the OK button
    6. At this point the device will power OFF and back ON automatically
    7. Once the device powers back ON, you will be asked to enter your Language and Time preferences
Your device has now been fully Reset
After the Quest® is set up, if indoors, please go outside to allow the device to acquire the satellite information from the vehicle. Ensure that the device has a clear line-of-sight with the sky.

Please let me know if I may be of further assistance.
