Hi everyone!
I am a full-time student at university, I currently live in halls but I won't be next year. I really really want my own place. I want to rent out a studio apartment and have found a few I am interested in.
Does anyone know if I can recieve any financial help other than the maintenance loan and grant towards my rent costs?
Please help!!

Hi Kim
You wont need to pay council tax but thats about it! My fella is a student and rents a place but gets nothing different then when he lived in halls apart from his own space ha ah

You'll almost always be better off renting somewhere specifically for students (not necessarily halls, but uni accommodation or with an estate agent who have properties for students).0

Yeah grammargirl is right his halls was £66 a week so he just was better off renting with a friend (who turned out to be a nightmmare but never mind lol) x0

Have you not got some friends you would want to share with? I totally understand wanting your own space but the costs of renting privately on your own are probably too high to afford on a student income, not to mention all the usual credit/reference checks which, unless you are looking specifically at student accommodation, you may not be able to pass owing to not having a steady income (i.e. not being a professional). As pointed out above, you will not have to pay council tax as a student, but you will have to pay everything else at full whack - gas, electricity, water, contents insurance, internet, phone - it all adds up.
House sharing definitely has its downsides but it is a good life lesson (believe me, I have been there with difficult housemates!) and it will be a lot cheaper than living on your own, even if you just share with one or two other people.0 -
i guess i'm just being greedy lol i really don't want to share and i want to stay in my home town and commute. it works out to be £80 a week which is what i pay now.
i need to snap out of it! thanks a lot everybody
