Sometimes it can be down to rrp and what the stockists are charging. It is so annoying when there aren't prices listed. I think it should be a condition when selling that the seller must make the price clear and available just like food has to have its listed ingredients!0

Not knowing the prices was definetly the worst bit for me as well! I went to many shops and it was such a struggle to find out prices! I found my dream dress and for the 20 mins I was trying it on I felt like a princess!! The woman in the shop was convinced she had a sale giving me all tiara's, boquets etc to use. Had a bit of problem getting the price out of her though - she kept changing the subject back to how pretty I looked. Turns out the dress was £1200!!!!!!!!!! She actually seemed suprised when I refused to request the dress there and then and instead said I would 'think about it' yer right!! I never found out who the dress was by so I have never seen it again but it was perfect just not worth £1200. I finally got my dress from Landy for £100 and it is just as good as the others I tried on!0

I know that a lot of the smaller bridal shops near me have their prices displayed on their dresses - I know because I went to suss out the new posh place that has opened up in the village and I had a good look at their dresses (they were trying to get me to try them on:eek:).
I think pricing also depends on whether or not they are having a sample sale, a general sale or just normal selling. One thing that I do know, more and more shops are refusing to allow people to photograph the dresses because they know that clients will be running off to landy:rolleyes:0 -
Yes that true - they would not allow me to photograph. They were not forthcoming with the sizes either, I presume that is to stop people nipping off to Preloved etc to get the same dresses second hand on there!Total for 2009: L'Oreal Lip Duo, Diary, Motability Guide
Thanks to everyone who post comps - you are all :cool2:0 -
It is so annoying, I agree. One of the above posters is about right - I've seen in a bridal mag (that a friend donated
) that her range was from £700 to £1200 so it should give you an idea.
It is ridiculous how brides are expected to just get what they want and not worry about the cost:rolleyes:. I will not be paying an obscene amount of money for my dress!Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0 -
There are a few good bridal shops in liverpool if you are willing to look around shops rather than the web. A friend recently got a 'maggie' for £375 as she took the display dress and had it altered herself bargain :j
If you want to pm me where you are I can let you know if there are any shops near by if you want xTurn £100 into £10,000 in 2010 Member!Total so far = 0I dribble and I'm proud
Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.0 -
Thanks Shell,
PM on way.
Aimee, I've passed the link on to her but she hasn't given any details of which ones yet, I'm seeing her at the weekend so will find out then.
I just don't understand why US stockists are so open about their prices but the UK ones are so flamin' secretive!0 -
I didn't look on any sites. I bought a few mags and got a general idea (big, princessy!!) but ultimately I went to a few recommended shops and picked my dress from the sale stock. I got exactly what I wanted, half price, and by a good designer. If I'd set my heart on some £3,000 dress, anything else would have been a disappointment so I made sure I loved the dress I bought, in budget!0
