a moan :(

Hi guys,

I just want a general moan really about the lack of prices on UK bridal websites:confused:

Trying to be MSE I've been doing some research for my daughter regarding dresses etc. Well, we can see prices on US sites but none of the UK bridal shops with websites never show prices. We don't mind travelling (within reason) for a good deal but because the shops don't show them we just don't know where to start!

Just wanted to get that frustration of my chest really, but why don't they display prices???!!!

To lure you in to falling in love with a dress and not caring about the cost so that the bride to be will pay anything for her 'dream' dress.

I never even looked at UK bridal sites lol

Here's why. They want to you see something, fall in love, set your heart on it, fall asleep dreaming about it, THEN ask the cost (of course it's over budget) and then buy it anyway because you fell in love with it.

Personally, I refuse to be dragged into the wedding hype and to pay inflated prices. I just keep on looking if a retailer seems to be poor value for money. I think you should be able to get value for money, even if you are getting married.

Absolutely agree with the above posts. What are you looking at Sal? I have looked at that many I may be able to give you an idea about prices. Alternatively Confetti dress search put rough prices on their website.

My daughter is getting married abroad and has looked at Maggie Sotterro and her 'destination' range, the local stockist only stocks the main collection so we'd have to travel to see the others. Don't see the point if we can't afford them, she has thought of Milly/Landy but is worried that the 'support' won't be there.
Her present faves are AD3274, Cassia and SD5204, though she is concerned she may 'fall out' of this one hence wanting to try them. I think she'd love Sottero and Migley ASM3069 but they're supposed to be the designer range and I don't want to mention it to her if it's out of price range:confused:
There are also some Provonias and Amanda Wyatt's that look fine but it's so frustrating not knowing the cost:mad:

I do know it's a marketing ploy but I don't understand why the US sites are very open with their prices and we are not:confused:

If it helps we are in the North West near Liverpool.

If she is getting wed abroad, tell her to have a look at the Ronald Joyce- Victoria Jane dresses. I have one and mine was £650.

    Thanks Aimee,
I've just had a quick look and there's some there that I think she'd like to try. Trouble is when I click on 'where to buy' the only stockist in our area is listed in West Kirby, the links for Wallasey and Liverpool don't show any stockists, surely there must be more than one?

I bet there is more. Maybe you could call round the local ones? I know of three shops all rather close to me all stock them. They are in the Staffordshire area. Are there any particular ones she would like? I wonder if it's mine!!!

Call them and ask, it's what I did. When I said I could get it much cheaper in the US, even with import taxes, I got £200 off. that was a £950 dress originally. YOU CAN HAGGLE!!!

I know - it is such a pain and can be such a snobby industry. I went to my local bridal shop to try on dresses and found the price for the one I really loved. Then I went home and called all of the stockists of this dress within a 100 mile radius to find out their price. Some of the shops I called would not disclose the price and some that I called were awful! One woman in York screeched down the phone that I had a nerve asking the price over the phone, and that the price would be the same all over, why had I not gone with my local store if the service was good (blah blah). However I found two lovely shops, one in Rochdale who offered me a deal on the dress with a free bridesmaid dress and another shop in Lancashire (which I bought from) who were also lovely and I managed to get a massive saving on the dress in the end.

I hasten to add that all of this was before I found out about Landy ;). After all I have read on here I would not hesitate to get a dress online but if you have your heart set on a particular one, a little effort could get you a much better deal.
