So, I know this guy who's about my age - 46 - and he's recently been made redundant. He has a bit of money saved and, luckily, no mortgage. He has spent a lot of time in IT but might want a change - say working for himself or buying a business. He has to get something going since he has a youngish family.
So does anybody have any reasonable ideas/suggestions that I - erm I mean he - might look at.
If so I'll definitely pass them on!

Before he/you can consider any form of self-employment, he needs to think what he can do and what he's prepared to do. Try this guide from businesslink

This chap's interested in loads of things - mainly cerebral. Has dabbled in marketing and PC stuff. Good organiser. I think he's looking for a new direction that will at least 'turn a buck'. Live in that cradle of enterprise - Merseyside!0
