Replacement Roof and Rendering

I am trying to get a quote for replacing my roof and rendering the front and back of my house (3 bed semi - Blackpool). The house is approx 7 metres square on the outside dimensions and the front and back of the house lead to the roof apex. I need to get the house rendered as my brick is crumbling with weather erosion. I need to get it re-roofed as the tile nails have rusted and tiles keep slipping
My logic tells me that it would be cheaper to have both done together as I should save on scaffolding costs. However, I am finding it difficult to find someone to do both jobs. Am I better trying to find one company to do the job or should I employ two separately? I also thought that by employing only one I would take any hassle out and not have to worry about sorting scaffolding myself.
Also does anyone have any rough idea as to costs?
Thanks,

Not many co's do both, well. If roof is slate it will need new laths, membrane and a few replacement slates to boot. If roofers have scaffold erected, the scaffold co will happily leave it up for an extra rent.
You can have a lime based breathable finish rather than render, and have brick finish to keep in with other original facades.
Bit more expensive but no painting, no change to look and as concrete based render does not breath, less problems in future. Decopierre brick effect coating is about £60 a meter compares to £30 for cement. (Normal render being just sand and cement).

I have had three quotes so far - two at £9,500 and one at £4,500. Strangely enough the cheapest guy spent the longest time here talking through all the options. Can anyone explain how there can be such a difference in quotes? And should I be hesitant in going with someone who seems so cheap compared to the alternatives.

Have a look at the quote to see if new slates / tiles will be used.
when using slates you can reuse just about over 50% of the originals. They then can be used on the Front so looks the same and obviously a slightly cheaper price given.
Ask about the under-felt, most companies now use a breatheable cover but there are some that don't!
Also it is recomended that copper nails are used if recovering with Slates.
A company that supplied Slates to one of my jobs would not cover the materials under guarantee if the "correct" materials / items used?0
