I'm sure you'll get someone out there who will appreciate your good turn, but tying up your money for about 3.2% makes no sense when West Brom is giving 4.3! Do you think rates will hop up to over 5% on the Investec to equal or beat that?

Hardly tying it up, 3 months notice is all that's required.

And the rate changes weekly - likely to be upwards not downwards!

Well, not long ago it was 4.4. Now it's less than 3.2...

You can get easy access with 3.5% and no 3 months to wait for it when the 5% accounts return. You can get 4.3 for a year and 4.4 for 5 years as of today...

It may go up, but not quickly and certainly not enough to make this a good investment for savings.

The Investec account will go up to ~5% when the 5% accounts return (slightly below if there is only 1 or 2 of them).

It's a great account if you don't want to have to keep moving your savings around to chase the good rates. In the last 4 years i've moved the main bulk of my savings from A&L > B&B > Icesave and KE > A&L > Natwest and BOS. It's a hassle that some people could do without.
