Is that right when you register a debit card they do a dummy purchase for £2.50??.
I've just checked online banking and my ebay order was £5.98, but it looks like the pending
    transaction is for £8.48..

So no one can confirm the above post for me ??
  • That doesn't sound right to me, but it's been a while since my first purchase, so they might...

Are you SURE the FULL price of the item is £5.98? Did you count the postage and packaging cost? Did you buy anything else you might've mixed it up with?

If you're certain you're being overcharged, I would either contact paypal or your debit card company.

p.s. if you have a credit card, it's probably better to have that on there instead of a debit, as you have more protection with a credit card, I believe.

The £2.50 sounds like it could be a verification thing - they pay in two small amounts, you then enter these amounts back into your paypal account profile, and it verifies that the card and account are all legitimate.

Van oh i see. Can easy change to credit from debit as more protection is better than none lol. yeah paypal debit is showing up now as a £5-98 debit.
    Cheers :)
Going too ring the halifax again as see what they say. I rang halifax yesterday and the woman said they were dummy. but as it was a general enquiry with no details given i wasn't sure she got what i was saying.
  • I'm glad it worked out :)

Vanya i havn't fully lol.. Halifax says it may be dummy but they said there usualy for £1. They did confirm it was a debit by Paypal. On paypals help page below it also mentions a £1. So what i need too do now for peace of mind is ring Paypal.
