Refund policy on High Street Glasses - not happy!!

In a weak moment I paid £410 for 2 pairs of glasses from D & A - 1 varifocals and 1 free pair of sunglasses. I collected them 4 days ago. They seemed OK in the shop, but I can't get on with them. I feel that I was pressurised into buying these. Can I legally take them back and get a refund? I hope someone out there can give me some advice. Thank you.

Can you elaborate on how you cannot get on with them? Are they faulty/ is the prescription wrong, or is it just that you do not like them? Varifocals do take a while to get used to.

How do you feel that you were pressurised into buying them?
    Gone ... or have I?
  • Thank you for replying. I had my eyes tested by a very nice optician. When I came out a lady was waiting for me and immediately started showing me frames. I'm not a very confident person, and I found myself being persuaded to buy the glasses. I had intended to ask for my prescription and wait until my daughter could come back with me, but found I couldnt' say this, as everything seemed to happen so quickly. When I went to pick up the glasses they seemed OK in the shop. I have been trying them, and the bottom of the lenses are in my eyeline, and I can't get on with the varifocals. The optician said I should use them when using my computer, but I can't get them focused. I also feel that I shouldn't have spent so much on glasses, when I can't afford it. I paid by credit card, but it will take me a long time to pay back. I know this makes me sound silly, I just wish I hadn't gone in the first place.

I think the main thing to do is to go back to your optician and tell them that they don't suit your purpose.

I know you're upset about it, but make sure that you keep calm. I think that you should take your daughter in with you as well for support.

    D&A make this promised:

    30-day lens guarantee:

If, within 30 days of collecting your new glasses, you haven't adjusted to the lenses, we'll provide a suitable alternative and refund any difference in price.

  • Thanks for your reply - I'm going back to D&A this week and will let you know how I get on, so fingers crossed!
