Advice Please

Hi everyone,

I have a relative who took a loan out from welcome finance [or Household Bank or HFC or whatever they decide to call themselves in any particular letter].

This person was soon to be retired and told the sales person as much who said it was fine. Due to her lack of income in retirement, my relative soon struggled to meet repayments but was refused her insurance request.

After 10 months of letters and complaints, they finally cancelled the ppi - after telling her it wasn't applicable to her, but continued to charge! I sent them a letter as per this site 5 weeks ago and I still have had no response!

What are other people's experiences with this company?! As far as I knew they were part of HSBC? Are they going bust or what?

I know Martin's letter says to give them 8 weeks, but I really feel as though they are taking the p*ss!

    Hi there

Also check on the success thread where you may find others who have had dealings with this company.

All I can say is, if there is no response at all by the full 8 weeks, this can go straight to the Financial ombudsman service, if they respond by not resolving this then write back to them, exhaust their complaint procedures.
Also in the final response, they should give details of the FOS.

Good luck hope its a good outcome, but keep on at them is best.;)

    This was a straight mis-sell
How much was the loan and how much was the ppi?

This will give an idea of your options.
I am a former Broker, former IFA and former compliance officer, for my sins.

However, I have since seen the light.

The loan was for 12,500 and the ppi was for 37.50 per month.
