I am trying to re install windows vista on my dell laptop but when i put in disk and select this option it comes up with the following message...................
' This computer does not have enough space for temporary files. Windows instullation needs at least 405 megabytes (MB) of space on any partition for temporary files. To install windows free enough space and restart the instullation.'
I have run ccleaner, deleted loads of stuff and uninstalled loads of programmes, and it keeps coming up with this same message, HELP!!!

try booting from the DVD. Restart the computer with the vista disk in the DVD drive, press any key when it tells you to. (make sure you have 405MB free by right clicking on c: > properties > you'll see a pie chart and ammount of free space)
Make sure you have all your documents backed up before you reinstall windows as it will wipe them all off0 -
Have tried booting the laptop with disk in but keep on getting a blue screen with errors in it, takes at least an hour to eventually get it started!
This is why i'd like a fresh start so to speak
I have 87gb free

in that case you need 512mb RAM (minimum) to run the vista installer.
i guess you probably have 512mb ram but a portion of that has been taken by onboard graphics0 -
If it came with vista pre-installed, it will have a recovery partition which makes reinstallation a breeze.0

This will wipe all your data, so if you have anything important, backup first. It should be in the manual too.
In the future, you could use something like this to backup your windows and data at the same time, making future recovery of everything a breeze.
