Hey guys
I have a DELL DIMENSION 3000 with a 2.66 Ghz CPU (only CELERON) and whenever I put the cpu under the slightest bit of load, it lags a LOT.
This is evident on games, even low cpu usage games BUT also when the PC has been on for a while and heat kicks in.
I tried to test the CPU temp but believe it or not DELL DIMENSION PC's have NO CPU temp sensor, how dumb is that> so I have NO WAY of knowing how hot it is.
Any ideas guys?
Thanks
Matt

Is it a new PC ???
I take it you have had it to bits and make sure all the motherboard and air intake holes are clear of dust/fluff ??
has the base unit got clear space round it for air circulation ??Ex forum ambassador

just spotted this is "on Board" graphics and standard Memory was only 256mb
might explain the slow performance under loadEx forum ambassador

Hey

Yeah, I checked all the basic stuff such as air intake and exhaust, I now have 1GB memory in it. I figured it could have something to do with the graphics but I don't think that would explain why it even lags when I'm online filling out forms (I will tyoe my name or login etc.. and it will appear on the screen about 3-4 seconds later sometimes)
Thanks again

have you checked running processes to see if something is "hogging" processor
I take it you have Firewall/Anti-virus/Anti Spyware installed ??Ex forum ambassador
