what wrong with reversing in ? then driving out - many many folks have to do this on single-width drive ways - or are you just making a point ?
They shouldn't have too, the land has vehicular access not parking rights for either of them, exactly to prevent this sort of problem. The plot sounds like it was designed for exactly the purpose the OP needs.
What would happen if one or other of them bought a wider car or van.
I wouldn't be up for retaliation but if the OP parked there I am sure the neighbour wouldn't be happy.0 -
I'd tread very carefully whatever you do. If you get into a dispute you will have to mention it when you come to sell and it would scare most people off from getting involved in the purchase.
Realistically apart from parking there yourself to make a point there isn't much you can do. Try telling him you can't turn around to reverse ecause you've hurt your back or neck. I don't think he'll be sympathetic though.0 -
I always say ,good fences make good neighbours. Never more true in this case. I would never buy a property with a shared anything. Even if the op is right,are they going to expend a fortune in legal expenses just to prove it only for him to continue to ignore it?

Builders usually do shared drives for planning/highways purposes re the amount of cars likely to need access off that particular road. So in order, for the builder, to get a sensible number of houses in they need to minimise the total number of access points. The builder will aso be complying with the various LA conditions by way of turning heads on many of these private drives so cars do NOT reverse out onto the road.
Your solicitor should of pointed this aspect out as it will be in the deeds if you are able to get a copy to show your neighbour?A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. In latter part of career specialising in commercial - mostly business sales.0 -

my friend has a shared access drive with the next doors. My friend owns the drive, but it allows walking access to the next door. They think they should be able to park their car there, even though its only a couple of feet wider than an average car. In the end, neighbour got the hump, even though they couldn't disagree when shown the plans, they still did'nt like it and ended up moving out, they rented while my friend owns their home.:hello: :wave: please play nicely children !0
